If you have ever dreamt of owning a heritage style property in a managed location, Rawlins can offer a limited number of freehold land parcels. Purchasers can choose from four existing Plantation House designs or have a bespoke dwelling designed by Kevin Horstwood.
Your property would include a landscaped Plantation Garden, all furniture and the option of rental through the hotel if desired. The Government has approved purchasers at Rawlins as eligible to gain citizenship in St Kitts.
Antecedent - by Kevin Horstwood, founder and owner
This project is the fruit of several years interest in the colonial plantation architecture of the Caribbean
islands. Unfortunately many of the plantation buildings of the 18th and early 19th century have
decayed away, but some survive, including Rawlins, and I have had the privilege to stay in many
of them.
I have long felt that the style and Suitability of these buildings to their environment is a heritage being
lost and I despair at the vulgar concrete shoe boxes that appear cancerous and carbunkle like in such
a beautiful island landscape..
The reason for the demise seems to be partly ignorance but mainly the shortage of high quality materials and
suitable artisans locally to build in a colonial style and at an affordable price.
This project and product is an option to those who want today's technology and creature comforts,
built into island-style accommodation and don't want a concrete shoe box.
